The Neutron and Synchrotron facilities - Material analytics way beyond the laboratory scale

We provide industry with access to cutting-edge material analytics originally developed for basic research, but now made available to address industrial challenges. Our applied analytical services are based on the large-scale research facilities operated by Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), which include the spallation neutron source (SINQ) and the synchrotron Swiss Light Source (SLS).

Synchrotron analytics enables new insights, because the level of flux delivered by the synchrotron source is several orders of magnitude greater than that offered by lab-based X-ray sources. Neutron analytics, meanwhile, is only possible with large-scale facilities, and is therefore not available with lab-based equipment. These capabilities mean that our services go way beyond the analytics achievable on a laboratory scale, and are unique in Switzerland.
