Investigation of polymeric sealants in aluminum cans using high-resolution Synchrotron CT

Usual tests to examine the seam are destructive (as cross-cut section or seam disassemble) and do not provide any indication about sealant placement inside the seam.
The applied material analytics of ANAXAM using high-resolution Synchrotron CT was capable of characterizing, in a non-destructive and three-dimensional way, the sealant distribution inside the double seam of an aluminum can.
The analysis was helping ACTEGA Artística to visualize and determine if the location of the sealant inside the seam is correct and fills the critical gaps; also helping to correlate the sealant placement in the can ends with the location inside the seam.
