Real-time investigation of tablet dissolution using Synchrotron CT

03.04.2023
As part of a customer project to investigate and visualise the dissolution behaviour of tablets, a tailor-made infrastructure was implemented.

The infrastructure allows the simulation of the real dissolution behaviour in real time and under real conditions. For this purpose, a measuring cell was produced using the 3-D printing process, which enables ideal circulation and thus generates ideal dissolution behaviour. The supply and drainage of the liquid is realised by means of two syringe pumps. This allows the required volume flow to be set with the highest precision.

For the tomography measurement (CT), the measuring cell is placed on a special rotation device. One 3-D scan (CT) is taken per second, consisting of 1000 individual images. This enables us to analyse the tablet three-dimensionally over time.
